History of Viking Kubb

Viking Kubb has a long and famous history, originally hailing from the Baltic Island of Gotland situated on the south coast of Sweden. Viking Kubb has been played on Gotland for over 1000 years it believed to played with blocks of firewood by the Vikings which visited Gotland but there is a old folk law which has been handed down to kubb player that the Vikings used the bone’s of their enemies.

Viking Kubb was somewhat lost for hundreds of years but in the early 90’s the production of Viking Kubb set’s lead to a increase in popularity of the game. So much so that the current world championship of Kubb held every year in Gotland.

Kubb has turned into the perfect outdoor game for all the family and in Sweden it would not be a BBQ or outdoor gathering without a game of Viking Kubb being played.
The beauty of the game is that it really is a game for all ages if you can throw you can play. All you need is a bit of grass and you are good to go.

The Viking Kubb Set

Viking kubb is made up of the following pieces

• 1 king
• 10 kubbs (short pieces of wood which you turn and knock over)
• 6 throwing batons ( these are the one you throw to knock over the kubbs)
• 4 corner posts ( to mark out the pitch)
